My name is Annie Rose O’Halloran, and I’m a self-taught artist based in Sussex, UK. Not confined to one particular style, I paint extensively with oil paint, as well as gouache, and I also love to use pencils, pens and pastels in my work. I enjoy making fine art, as well as cheerful and expressive illustrations.

After many years of neglecting my creativity, I began sketching roosters whilst travelling in Portugal. I drew and painted many roosters, as it was something I could always fall back on when I couldn’t think of anything to draw. I thought I was finding my style, but more importantly, I was falling in love with building a regular art-making practice! I attribute those early rooster sketches to all the work that has followed.

The inspiration behind my work is often sparked by the most ordinary of occurrences. I love highlighting people during moments of thought, joy, work and rest, noticing how they interact with their surroundings when their mind is elsewhere. Ideas for artworks are often founded in memories of my travels.
